Assam is a strong, full-bodied black tea, ideal for an early morning or slow afternoon. Its malty flavour is unrivalled; sure to give you a punchy wake-up call to rival any strong English Breakfast. We recommend this as a Breakfast tea if you live in a soft water area. The water we use to brew our tea has almost as much influence on the flavour as the leaves themselves. Soft water areas, such as fabulous Edinburgh, means there are high levels of sodium which can have some benefits such as less limescale in appliances but does alter the flavour. This Assam allows the flavour of the tea to shine through the sodium content of the water to give an outstanding cuppa.
Bursting with colour, our beautifully crafted second flush Assam demonstrates the full power of this spicy leaf; picked perfectly in season for a quality tippy tea.
How we make it:
- 1-2 teaspoons for a decent mug
- Freshly boiled water
- Brew for 3-5 minutes – brew lightly to expose its layered honey undertones, or longer to show the full strength of this powerhouse.
- With or without milk – it’s your call!
